| Recently, I started to
rebuild my author
site from the contents of a box
of old Hollywood publicity photos from the 1970s. I chose this one for
the social
media page, as
I find the picture comical yet disturbing, much like social media. The problem is I have no clue what movie this image is from. There are no markings on it to give it away, and though the actors look familiar, I cannot recall who they are. A couple of the underlying givens in life are that (1) art is imperfect, and (2) machines do not create art. I dragged the photo into a Google image search, hoping to find the name of the movie. Google, bless its heart, couldn't match the photo, and though the results are imperfect, they are beautiful in a algorithm kind of way. Here are screen captures of seven pages of variations on a theme courtesy of Google. |
